Helping Frail Older Relatives? - There's an App for That

Rally Round, a web based service that helps families to give more practical help to frail older relatives, has launched a new app today at NHS Expo 2013.

"Rally Round strengthens the collective power of family and friends to help people they love. It's a really simple idea but one with great potential and with the ONS forecasting a 50% rise in over 65s by 2030 things like this are urgently needed" says Steve Pashley, Co-founder of Health2Works. "

Speaking about Rally Round, Miles Ayling, Director of Innovation at the Department of Health says "This is exactly the kind of smart, low cost innovation that the Web is great for. The NHS needs lots more of this kind of thing from developers out there."

Rally Round is one of 10 featured apps on the Department of Health's new NHS Apps library that was launched at NHS Expo 2013. It also can be found on the Apple App Store and at www.rallyroundme.com. 

"Now busy relatives and friends can easily see and volunteer for jobs that need doing and keep track of who is doing what" says Roger Marlow, Technology Director of Health2Works, the organisation behind the free service.

An enhanced version, for use by Local Authorities and NHS Trusts is next to be launched along with a version of Rally Round for Android devices.

Caucus to be used for Map of Medicine work

Caucus, our community networking software is being adapted, in partnership with Informatics Merseyside, to support their Map of Medicine initiative. By using Caucus in this way the cycle time for clinicians to review and sign-off new pathways will be significantly shorter. 

Walton Centre starts to use Rally Round

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the UK's only specialist neurosciences NHS Trust in the UK has started to use Rally Round. The Trust has commissioned third sector Neuro-Support to promote Rally Round and support adoption amongst famillies and friends of people with Dementia. 

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership go live with Connect web platform

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have started to use our new Connect web platform. The new website is now live. Additional modules will be released over the next few months. The purpose built CMS is now available for other Mental Heath Trusts to use. Some of the platform's features can be seen here. 

Bassetlaw to use CCG-Connect

"We are looking forward to using our CCG-Connect Quick Start service to get a new CCG site and 3 connected practice sites up and running in Bassetlaw before the summer holidays" says Paul Hanks, Health2Works' Lead Analyst. "Hopefuly this can then form a great mini-platform that can attract more connected GP sites later in the year".
